Anyway, is there an option to disable automatic Updates of Opera so that I don't need to re-downgrade to Version 56 each time? With the latest Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and other Software like Total Commander, Windows Explorer, etc. the TrackPoint Scroll is working properly. So it is an Opera Issue. Is there a chance this message reaches the Opera Developer Team, so they can work on it? Or am I doomed with my antique Hardware? burnout426 Volunteer @Guest last edited by @celadyn said in TrackPoint Scroll doesn't work (Lenovo ThinkPad):Anyway, is there an option to disable automatic Updates of OperaClose down Opera and rename opera_autoupdate.exe in Opera's program files folder. You could check in Opera 56 (the About Opera page, where it lists the Browser Identification) to check, but I'm sure it'll be an older version of Chrome. Based on. I recently tried upgrading the Chrome OS version but it seems to have stuck on version 72.0.3626.122 Clicking on the update button makes it appear the Chromebit is trying to perform the upgrade but never does. I also tried performing a reset on the Chrome OS but the same thing happened – it’s just stuck on the same version. After doing some research I found out the Chromebit CS10 is the end of life and that the auto-updates are no longer working. You can read this in detail here: [Chromebit] CS10 End of Life Policy or Auto Update Expiration (AUE) This is an extract of the expiration dates: The Google Update Policy page below includes a schedule of when Google will stop providing Chrome OS updates for Chrome devices and shows as of January 15, 2020, that the Auto Update Expiration date for the Chromebit CS10 is November 2020.Since November 2020 there were no further updates but the latest version of the Chromebit Chrome OS is actually 86.0.4340.198 but it’s possible that because it’s past November 2020 the update function no longer works. After some research, there was a way to manually upgrade version 72 to version 86 by performing a full recovery using the USB recovery tool. This would wipe and delete all data from the Chromebit and would reset everything to defaults using version 86 of Chrome OS.NOTE: If you’re looking at using Google Play on the Chromebit then don’t bother performing the upgrade as it doesn’t work. It won’t work on version 86 as well.In order to upgrade from version 72 to 86, you will need to create the recovery USB thumb drive. If you‘re an iPad user, you may have considered using Google Chrome as an alternative to the built-in Safari browser. Chrome is known for its speed, sync features, privacy controls, and huge extension library. But how does the iPad version really compare? Is it worth making the switch? In this comprehensive guide, we‘ll dive deep into the benefits, features, and future of Chrome on iPad, with expert insights, statistics, and power user tips to help you get the most out of this powerful browser. Whether you‘re a casual user or a web developer, there‘s something to learn about optimizing your iPad browsing experience.Chrome vs Safari on iPad: Usage and Market ShareFirst, let‘s look at some data on how many iPad users are choosing Chrome. According to a 2023 study by Chitika, Chrome accounts for 24% of iPad web traffic, up from just 5% in 2019. Safari still leads at 72%, but Chrome is steadily gaining ground, especially among younger users. What‘s driving this shift? The study cites Chrome‘s cross-platform syncing, personalized Google services, and developer-friendly tools as key factors. As more users prioritize these benefits, Chrome‘s iPad market share is projected to keep climbing.Under the Hood: How Chrome Optimizes Performance on iPadSo what makes Chrome fast on iPad? It comes down to the rendering engine and JavaScript processing. Chrome uses the Blink engine, a fork of WebKit that powers Safari. But Google has heavily optimized Blink for its V8 JavaScript engine, which compiles code directly to machine instructions. On iPad hardware, this allows Chrome to take full advantage of the CPU and GPU to accelerate page loading, scrolling, animations, and complex web apps. Safari‘s Nitro engine is no slouch, but benchmarks show Chrome pulling ahead on graphics-intensive tasks. For the smoothest browsing, Chrome is hard to beat.Progressive Web Apps and Web Platform
